Similar to austenitic stainless steel grade 321, the alloy for specified grade sa 213 tp 347h Boiler Tube uses columbium as a stabilizing element and is a chromium-nickel based stainless steel. Columbium has been added to the A213 TP 347H UNS S34709 Coiled Tube Heat Exchanger alloy in order to maximize its principal feature i.e. – to stabilize carbon and impart resistance to the alloy from intergranular corrosion. Further, columbium added to the UNS S34709 Finned Tube Heat Exchanger also aids in strengthening this stainless steel grade for high temperature applications. Hence, the A213 TP 347H Stainless Steel Seamless Heat Exchanger Tube can be used in applications which require repeated heating in between the temperature range of about 800 to 1650 F . As a result of the addition of elements, both columbium and tantalum, the SS UNS S34709 Helical Tube Heat Exchanger has a slightly improved resistance to corrosion over other alloys of stainless steel. This is especially seen when the ASME SA 213 347H Welded Boiler Tubes is exposed to strongly oxidizing media containing environments. The combination of columbium & tantalum carbides precipitate within the grains of the ASTM A213 TP 347H Boiler Tubing instead of forming at the grain boundaries of the alloy.
SA 213 TP 347H Stainless Steel Seamless Boiler Tubes can be welded by all conventionally used fusion and resistance methods. Though using Oxyacetylene method for welding is not recommended.
