Although it must be recognized that the corrosion resistance property of the Nickel Alloy 201 Seamless Tubing tends to remain valid provided that the oxidizing media allows the formation of a passivated oxide layer on the surface of the metal. This oxide film on the surface of ASTM B161 Nickel 201 Exhaust Tubing accounts for the metals excellent resistance in caustic environments. Corrosion rates in both marine environments and rural atmospheres for Nickel 201 High Pressure Tubing are very low. The resistance to corrosion by the Alloy 201 Seamless Tubing against distilled and natural waters is excellent. Plus the ASTM B161 Nickel 201 Tubing also is able to demonstrate excellent service in flowing sea water. This holds true for Nickel 201 even at high velocity, but at times where the metal has been exposed to stagnant or very low velocity sea water, the metal is susceptible severe local attack which occurs under fouling organisms.

What is Nickel 201 Tubing?
Essentially the material used in the manufacture of nickel 201 tubing, is commercially pure (99.6%) wrought nickel. Which would mean that the Nickel UNS N02201 Round Tubing is the same as NICKEL 200, although the lower carbon content is one modification that distinguishes both nickel 200 & nickel 201. As a manufacturer, we have modified the content of ASME SB163 Nickel 201 Square Tubing in order to prevent embrittlement caused by intergranular carbon at temperatures over 315°C. A Lower content of carbon in the Alloy 201 Electropolished Tubing is also known to reduces hardness, thereby making NICKEL 201 particularly well suited for cold formed items.
